PAUL WILLCOCKS
I’m a Drama teacher in Elephant and Castle. I once travelled with Zippos Circus after training with their circus academy and was a professional actor for eight years. I also acted at the Royal Opera House, notably in ‘The Fiery Angel’ where I got eaten by the Devil!
In 2010, I appeared at the Young Vic in ‘The Human Comedy’ which was just as exciting (and a lot less painful!!)
I write fiction for under 18s. I’m currently working on my third novel: “I KNOW WHERE YOU’RE GOING!”: Casey Warren goes back in time to 1915 and urges a young man NOT to go to war. But when she realises the time-consequences of her actions, she has a rapid change of heart…
My second novel THE SCOOTER OF THE FUTURE (for age 10+) was shortlisted in the Nemesis Debut Novel Competition. This is exciting and of course I want to go further!
I’ve just competed a musical version of HAMLET which I’m very excited about. Not sure what to call it yet: I favoured ‘WILD AND WHIRLING WORDS’ but a colleague suggested ‘HAMLET ROCKS!’ Bet I can guess what you prefer!
I’m a regular contributor to ‘Teaching Drama’, a magazine for Drama teachers and practitioners. I have reviewed books, joined in debates and argued that directing is a really good thing for drama teachers to do… which it is!
