JOHN O’LEARY
JOHN O’LEARY is an author, illustrator and paper engineer with over 20 years experience producing illustrations for magazines, book covers, educational books and cards. He has written and illustrated thirteen successful children’s books with Frances Lincoln and Tango Books, many with a particular emphasis on discovery, game play and illusion. His most recent titles include Detective Paws and the Case of the Golden Cat, The Big Match and Fairytale Colours – Goldilocks.
As well as designing pop-ups for his picture books, he has constructed giant pop-ups for the public art trail, Look out, in Islington’s St George’s ward. As one half of Wordpepper, he co-created two successful children’s theatre productions, presented by Half Moon Theatre in association with Apples and Snakes.
John’s work has appeared in Images, the Best of British Illustration, on a number of occasions and he is a founder member of IWFC. He is a regular visitor to primary schools where he talks about his books and runs workshops in writing, illustration and pop-up design.
