Una Casa per Piccione

Congratulations to our newest member, Venice Shone on the publication of her wonderful new picture book, Una Casa per Piccione. The book, translated into the Italian by Sara Marconi, is published by Storiedichi Edizioni.

It’s spring, and Piccione is ready to build a new home, but uncertain about what he truly wants. Seeking inspiration, he sets off on a journey through the countryside and over the city, flying from place to place. Eventually, he creates a beautiful home, but then catastrophe occurs. However, with a little help from his friends, the squirrels, Piccione, at last, manages to build the perfect home!
Una Casa per Piccione is a charming tale, written and beautifully illustrated by Venice. Its gentle narrative, pitched perfectly for young children, explores themes of friendship, nature and home.

Venice Shone is an author and illustrator from London. After studying Fine Art in Manchester, she worked as a freelance illustrator and children’s book designer. Later, she pursued a career as a gallery owner before completing a Master’s in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. The idea for the book A Home for Piccione came from observing the pigeons nesting outside her studio window.
