Marion was born in Scotland, grew up in Cumbria and went to university in North Wales. After travelling in some distant bits of the world she settled in London and began a career in publishing.
As an editor Marion worked with writers and illustrators in many subject areas. She often wished she could find the time to do some writing herself. Eventually she went freelance, became a mum and allowed herself one day a week to write for children.
Marion’s first novel was shortlisted for the Kathleen Fidler Award. Since then, she’s published five picture books and an early reader. She enjoys going into primary schools to run workshops on books and creative writing. She also helps run the group called Islington Writers for Children whose blogspot this is.
